A home-made memorial can be very poignant.

St Bartholomew, Redmarley D'Abitot, Gloucestershire
(Click on an image for a larger version)
There has been a church in Redmarley since at least the 13th century, and part of the tower probably dates from that time. The majority of the building goes back only to 1855 when most of the then existing building was in such serious disrepair that it was demolished and rebuilt.
A home-made memorial can be very poignant.

The unique bee shelter can be found in the churchyard

St Mary, Hartpury, Gloucestershire
(Click on an image for a larger version)
The present church, now dedicated to St. Mary, was built before 1100 and like all early Norman churches, would have been dark with massively thick walls and small round arched high-level window openings. During the early part of the 14th century the original windows in the nave were enlarged and the present large presbytery (chancel) and sanctuary were added to accommodate the more elaborate ceremonial of the time. The tower was built detached, but immediately adjoining the church, during the early part of the 14th century.
The unique bee shelter can be found in the churchyard

James Williams "... met his untimely death by a shot fired from a French war vessel off Belle Isle, Bay of Biscay,...".

St Michael, Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, Wales
(Click on an image for a larger version)
The first St Michael's Church was opened in 1787, and was situated to the west of the Assembly Rooms. It is described as a small building that had taken 20 years to build. This was was replaced by a large, cruciform building of 1829-33 by Edward Haycock, of which the west vestry survives roofless, some 40m south-west of the present church. The existing large and prosperous late-Victorian building is of 1889-90 by R. Nicolson of Hereford. It is constructed of Yorkshire stone with Bromsgrove dressings and Westmorland green slates, in English Decorated style (old fashioned for its date, and that makes few concessions to Wales.
